Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that uses a suction technique to remove fat from most areas of the body.

What is Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that uses a suction technique to remove fat from most areas of the body. Liposuction also shapes and contours these areas. The most common areas that can be treated by liposuction are:

  • Abdomen
  • Waist
  • Flanks
  • Bra Line
  • Arms
  • Inner and Outer Thighs
  • Inner Knees
  • Under Chin/Neck
  • Buttocks

Liposuction isn’t typically considered an overall weight-loss method or a weight-loss alternative. If you’re overweight, you’re likely to lose more weight through diet and exercise. Liposuction can be used as a secondary weight loss treatment to enhance yours results from diet and exercise.

If you haves stubborn areas of fat that diet and exercise don’t seem to target then you may be a perfect candidate for liposuction.

Things to Remember

As with any cosmetic procedure there are a few things to consider before proceeding with liposuction:

  • Contour irregularities
  • Fluid accumulation
  • Numbness
  • Fat embolism

Although unlikely, most issues that arise after having liposuction can be treated with a second round of the procedure.

After Your Surgery

After having liposuction you can expect some discomfort, swelling and potential bruising. Dr.Kashaf may prescribe medication to assist in pain managment as well as antibiotics to limit the risk of infection.

Dr.Kashaf may leave your incisions open to promote fluid drainage.

Generally you will leave our office wearing tight compression garments, which help reduce swelling, and you will leave these on for a few weeks time.

You will need to wait a few days before resuming your normal working schedule and a few weeks before resuming any high energy activities like exercise.

Over the coming weeks as swelling settles you will begin to see your final results.
