What Does Liposuction Look Like with San Diego’s Top Liposuction Doctor?

Liposuction done by Dr. Kashaf, San Diego’s Top Liposuction Doctor, is designed to target stubborn pockets of fat that are not responding to diet and exercise. Body contouring is performed to create a smooth and sculpted appearance while maintaining your unique body shape. A tiny incision will be made where a thin tube connected to a vacuum is inserted into the fat layer beneath the skin and targeted fat deposits are suctioned out. The results of the lipo cosmetic procedure leave a refined definition in the areas targeted. Ideal candidates for liposuction

Liposuction isn’t typically considered an overall weight-loss method or a weight-loss alternative. If you’re overweight, you’re likely to lose more weight through diet and exercise. Liposuction can be used as a secondary weight loss treatment to enhance yours results from diet and exercise. If you haves stubborn areas of fat that diet and exercise don’t seem to target then you may be a perfect candidate for liposuction.

What to Expect After Liposuction:

Week 1: During the first week after the procedure expect swelling, bruising, and deep soreness. Fluid drainage is common in the first 24-48 hours. Rest is extremely important, but short gentle walks are encouraged for blood circulation. Strenuous activity must be completely avoided during this recovery phase. Week 2-4: By week 3, most visible bruising and swelling will have subsided. You may still experience tingling or tightness. . You will also begin to see early shape changes. After being cleared by Dr. Kashaf you can return to desk work, but exercise and heavy lifting should still be avoided. During this time compression garment wearing may also be reduced.

Week 4-6: By this stage in the recovery process the majority of post-op swelling will be gone and contours become visibly defined in clothing. Weight lifting and high-intensity workouts can be resumed with Dr. Kashaf’s clearance. Depending on the patient, you may be cleared to stop wearing your compression garments or only wear them part-time for comfort.

3-6 Months: In the final refinement phase, swelling will resolve completely and the skin will fully settle over the new contour. All normal activities can be resumed without restriction.

Liposuction Results & Benefits:

By removing unwanted fat cells, liposuction can enhance your natural body shape to create a  slimmer, more sculpted, and better proportioned appearance. It is important to understand that the goal of liposuction is to contour the body and is not a procedure to address loose or sagging skin. To maintain your results long-term, it is crucial to maintain a stable weight and continue healthy lifestyle habits.

Understanding the Risks of Liposuction:

Risks to consider when undergoing a liposuction surgery include:

  • Body contour concerns: Due to poor skin elasticity or uneven fat removal the skin will appear bumpy, wavy, or withered.
  • Fluid Build-up: Seromas (pockets of fluid) may form and require needle drainage
  • Numbness: Temporary or permanent numbness in the targeted areas.
  • Scars: Small, discreet scars are left where the tube is inserted

Other serious, but rare complications include fat or blood clots, infection, fluid imbalances that affect the heart or kidneys. Risks will increase with a larger volume of fat being removed.

Is liposuction permanent?

Liposuction does permanently remove fat cells from the body. Remaining fat cells can still increase with significant weight gain, so it is important to remain a stable weight.

How much weight can you lose with liposuction?

Liposuction is a body sculpting treatment, not a weight-loss procedure. The amount of fat removed can depend on your goals, treatment area, and health. Most patients will see a change in body measurements, proportions, and the way clothing fits rather than a drop in weight on the scale.

How long does liposuction recovery take?

Liposuction will take about 3-6 months to see final results. Most patients can return to light activity in 1-2 weeks and slowly resume all normal activities by weeks 4-6.

How painful is liposuction?

The liposuction procedure will be painless due to anesthesia. Following the procedure, you will experience moderate discomfort as recovery begins. Patients report experiencing a deep muscle soreness similar to an intense workout that peaks in the first 3 days following the procedure. You will also experience swelling and intense bruising that will gradually subside over weeks 1-2 of the recovery period. Patients will typically be prescribed pain medication for the first few days of recovery and over-the-counter medication for the remainder of the discomfort.
