Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure to improve the overall appearance of the abdomen and surrounding areas.

What is Liposuction

A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure to improve the overall appearance of the abdomen and surrounding areas.

A tummy tuck will remove excess skin and fat from the abdomen that may be caused by age, pregnancy or fat loss. During a tummy tuck the abdominal muscles can also be tightened to create a more toned look.

After excess skin and fat is removed the incision is closed which tightens the skin and flattens the abdominal area.

Things to Remember

A tummy tuck poses various risks, including:

  • Fluid accumulation beneath the skin which can be drained
  • Poor wound healing
  • Unexpected scarring
  • Tissue damage
  • Changes in skin sensation

After Your Surgery

After a tummy tuck, your abdominal incision and bellybutton will likely be covered with a surgical dressing. You may also have small tubes placed along the incision to drain any excess blood or fluid. These will later be removed.

Dr.Kashaf will prescribe medication to manage pain. There will also be swelling in the abdominal area.

You’ll wear a supportive abdominal garment for about six weeks after your tummy tuck. This prevents fluid buildup and provides abdominal support while you begin your healing process.

For the first six weeks after a tummy tuck, you’ll be required to move carefully. You may need to walk slightly bent at the waist as to not place any stress on the incision.
